The standing protest in front of the European Commission (Berlaymont, Brussels), organised by Pesticide Action Network Europe and Broederlijk Delen, is taking place on March 27th from 10:30 to 12:00 to demand urgent policy action on EU-banned pesticides and essential bugs protection. This action is part of the Pesticide Action Week and will bring together NGOs, supporting MEPs, and key stakeholders to push for urgent legislative reforms.
By uniting these two critical issues under the broader "pesticides-issues" umbrella, we aim to highlight the urgent need for stronger regulations and policy reforms.
What we are standing for:
🚨 End of double standards – Stop the export of EU-banned pesticides & ensure zero tolerance for their presence in imported food.
🐞 Protection of essential bugs and biodiversity – Strengthen protection for arthropods, vital to ecosystems and agriculture, whose populations are collapsing due to flawed and weak EU guidelines.
The Export Ban aspect will be supported by the participation of the African delegation from Burkina Faso and Uganda, who are visiting Brussels to advocate for the ban on the export of hazardous pesticides by European institutions.
They will testify about the problems caused by the use of hazardous pesticides in their country and suggest alternatives.
