Call for Sessions - NCRPA Maintenance Workshop 

Do you have hands-on expertise or fresh ideas in park and facility maintenance? We’re seeking knowledgeable professionals to present at our upcoming Maintenance Workshop, designed to help attendees grow their skills, share best practices, and stay current with the latest in the field.

We’re looking for engaging speakers who can lead a 1-hour classroom session or a 30-minute hands on learning session, on a variety of topics including (but not limited to): Equipment and turf management, Preventive maintenance strategies, Safety and risk mitigation, Trades and technical skills, Sustainability practices, Budgeting and resource allocation, Vendor and contractor coordination, Innovative tools and technology. Hazard and Risk Assessment, Safe Chemical Handling, Tool and Equipment Safety, Groundskeeping Basics, Facility Maintenance, etc.

This workshop is a chance to connect with fellow maintenance pros, swap stories and solutions, and highlight real-world strategies for keeping parks and facilities running smoothly and safely for long-term community use.

If you have the know-how, tips, or tools that could benefit others in the field, we invite you to share your experience and help elevate the profession. Join us as a speaker and contribute to this valuable hands-on learning experience!


NCRPA will host three (3) Maintenance Workshops in Fall 2026.

October 22 - Kirkwood Adams Community Center, 1100 Hamilton St., Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870 

We are accepting session proposals for this workshop.  Proposals should be submitted by May 1. Information provided will be used as written for workshop promotional materials. Please review the session questions here.  

Session Requests:

1-hour Session
We are looking for knowledgeable and passionate professionals to lead a 1-hour classroom or hands on session.  If you have valuable insights or innovative solutions to share, we’d love to have you speak and help others enhance their day-to-day operations!  Speakers who provide activities and/or resources will be prioritized.  There is a limit of three (3) speakers for a 1 hour session. 

30-minute hands on learning session:  
This is a great opportunity to demonstrate practical skills, tools, or techniques related to parks and recreation maintenance—whether it’s equipment use, field prep, safety protocols, or innovative maintenance solutions. If you enjoy teaching by doing and have something valuable to share, we’d love to have you lead an interactive session that helps others improve their on-the-job skills! There is a limit of three (3) speakers for a learning session.
