Vegetable Garden Basics
Tuesday May 20th
6:00 pm -7:30 pm
Cook County Community Center
317 W 5th St, Grand Marais

Description: Would you like your green thumb to be a little “greener”?  Join Master Gardeners to learn how to make your garden more successful.  Topics we will cover include preparing your soil, starting plants from seed or transplants, selecting vegetables for your garden, and making a garden plan using the “Square Foot Gardening” tools.  The goal is for you to leave the class with a plan for your garden including what to plant, amounts to plant, and time-line.  If time allows and there are participants with a community garden plot, we will visit the community garden.

Fee: Free

Participants are invited to make a donation to the Cook County Master Gardener Volunteer Program to support our work with gardening education in the community if they are able: Donate here

This workshop will be taught by Master Gardener Volunteers Carol Bennett and Janet Ditmanson, and is a collaboration between Master Gardeners and the Northwoods Food Project.
