College staff is a tiring and sometimes thankless job. It is NOT an opportunity to visit friends in the DC area or to relive your own high school Youth and Government experience. It is an opportunity to put the concept of Servant Leadership into action, and can be a rewarding volunteer experience in your life. It is important, however, that you understand the expectations, and that you commit to participating in the entire conference. The nature and demands of the conference do not allow for part-time college staff. All college staff are required to stay at the conference location for the duration of the conference. *
I understand that my application may involve one-on-one and group phone interviews. Notification by conference staff will occur at the beginning of April. I understand that, if selected, I must attend one of two training sessions via conference calls, and that I must participate in the entire conference. I understand that conference staff will ask my Youth and Government State Director for a reference. Further, I understand that I must submit a background check from the past year (can be obtained from your YAG state program if applicable or your college/university. If you do not have one from the past year, conference staff will work with you to obtain one at your expense). *
