In 2020, we began the
water refilling station program to support the Black Lives Matter movement by providing water and reusable bottles at marches, rallies, and other events. Today we have expanded the program to include other local events such as Pride Fest, Chill on the Hill, and HkeMKE. Since our program began we have prevented over 6,500 single-use plastic water bottles and interest increases each year. This program is supported by our volunteers and strives to provide a model for hosting plastic-free events.
How it works: Plastic-Free MKE provides 5-gallon water jugs from
Clear and Fresh Water Inc., a Milwaukee-owned business, and PFMKE-branded reusable aluminum water bottles if desired. Event attendees can also bring their own water bottles to refill! Volunteers (yours or ours) will pump the water for participants to reduce spilling and pump handle contamination. We can also provide general information on plastics and the Plastic-Free MKE movement at your event.
Please fill out the form below to request supplies for water refill stations at your chosen event. NOTE: This form must be submitted a minimum of two weeks in advance to ensure we can gather and purchase all required supplies.
We have provided guidelines below on how many water jugs and water bottles to request based on the amount of people you anticipate at your event. Please consider making a donation towards the cost of the water jugs and/or water bottles if you can do so (particularly for larger events). The number of events we can attend, and the amount of supplies we are able to provide, depends on funding and volunteer availability.
Once you submit the form, we will be in touch shortly with additional information for your event.
