The idea behind the program is 'give music a go' with a concentration on learning new songs, writing songs and performing them live.
These band lessons are ideally suited to guitarists, bass players, pianists, keyboardists, drummers and singers but other instruments like violin, trumpet, sax, accordion etc are welcome.
New members will be placed in a band to find out what skill level and experience students have.
Some members may be moved to other groups during term 1 & 2.
Bands are run by our Rock Band coach Heath Watson. Rock Band tuition is a whole year program with performance opportunities and national and local competitions. Commitment is required for the whole year.
Students will have a chance to work together as a group and get a good introduction to playing in and being part of a rock or pop band.
All members receive a 50 minute band lesson per week.
Students are expected to come to lessons every week and will need to get guidance (ideally) from their individual tutors and also practice their parts at home. Please note that these are band lessons not individual instrumental lessons.
Year 7 students will be moved into new Year 8 groups before the end of Term 4. They will have new music to work on and ready to hit the ground running at the start of the coming new year.
Singers will need their own microphone and lead (ideally a proper 3 pin XLR cable not a 1/4' guitar style lead).
Guitarists, Ukulele and Bass players will have to bring along an instrument that can be amplified (and electric/acoustic electric with a pick up/bass and lead). All guitarist and bass players must have their own tuner, lead and strap.
Lessons cost $27.50 excluding GST per week. Payments will be invoiced twice a year (per semester) directly to parents by Heath Watson - heathwatsonguitar@gmail.com Students you need your parents permission before signing up for this program. For more information about the timetable please email Heath at-
