As social media influence increases, so does the demand for video and motion pictures. So, how much more can a video show if a picture can say a thousand words?

Video content is the new king, and research expects it to increase to 82% of all online content. That’s an incredible number. But, it’s not just the thing to do to be trendy. Research shows that people retain more of what they see versus what is just read. Which, comes into play for marketing and is why 87% of marketers understand that a visual – 3D animation or video – yields better ROI.

Some statistics for motion picture design in marketing, video generates 1200% more shares than just text and image content alone. In addition, 95% of visitors claim better message retention when watching video versus simply reading text.

So, where does all this come into play for industrial manufacturing companies? First, industrial manufacturers have a massive opportunity for video and animation usage on websites & social media. We’ll give several examples below.

Explainer videos

What kind of services can you show with explainer videos & animations? Everything. What type of process does your industrial plant go through for your company – show it with video or animation. Explain it by giving a visual. A walk-through of your plant. An Animation of your manufacturing process. Easily explain your company. And your services. Research shows explainer videos attract 96% of people who want to learn more about a product or service.

Fluid animations

Many manufacturing companies have fluid processes that are complicated to show. Video can provide a visual for this, or better yet, 3D visualization with animation. Describe your fluid process to a 3D expert, and the output will become a product that the world can understand by seeing it. The world can share your manufacturing process video. Improved understanding of the manufacturing process will increase shares & sales.

Product animations

It’s easy to have pictures of your product on your website. And new angles of the product on social media, but do your customers understand it? Can they see it all the way? Product videos give viewers 360-degree views and an understanding of your manufactured products.

With this said, a few more statistics:

86% of people would like to see more videos from brands.

64% of consumers purchase after watching videos.

68% of consumers prefer watching videos and animations about new products and services.

So, you’re probably thinking of all the ideas of how to use video for your industrial manufacturing company. The possibilities are endless – whether it’s the home page of your website giving an instant fresh view of your manufactured products, an individual 360-degree product video animation, or social media reels for industrial manufacturing. So, don’t miss out on the benefits that video or 3D manufacturing animations offer.

Safety Training For Oil & Gas
Introduction

Let us introduce you to Bel Power Solutions, a company with over 70 years of excellence and experience in the electronics industry and who has been supporting multiple other industries to POWER, PROTECT and CONNECT. The company has a strong track record of technical innovation working with the engineering teams of market leaders; as a result, they understand the electrical needs and safety concerns of traveling by rail.

People have many options to travel the world whenever they like, in so many different ways, one being by train, which is growing more popular. But, do we ever stop to think about all the electrical components needed to run an electronic train? There are too many components and systems to count that make this amazing transit technology work. Train travel is rapidly evolving, with liberally distributed AC sockets, 5V smart charging points, and high-speed Wi-Fi. In addition to electrical options for passengers, conventional functions such as windshield wipers, braking systems, door control, and collision warnings are all systems that must be working efficiently and safely in the rail industry.

As more trains include advanced electrical connections and interworkings, safety becomes a concern. The safety concerns require the electrical systems in rail infrastructure to operate efficiently and reliably under extremes in temperature, humidity, and vibration. Bel Power Solutions understands this environment and provides a wide range of products to meet global rail industry standards for rolling stock and trackside systems.

Discussion

Bel Power Solutions came to I3D with a need to display its wide range of products for rail travel in a new format – an interactive environment. Bel Power Solutions already had PDF catalogs showing products, as well as products listed on the website. But, it was time to take product browsing to the next level.

Many electrical parts & products come into play in the rail industry. From passenger safety and comfortability to proper train function – Bel Power Solutions can take care of these requirements, providing fully customized power solutions & protection for safe electrical usage.

What are some of the products offered by Bel Power Solutions Train Technology?

Accessibility for passengers: wheelchair lifts, door controls, and a ticket system

Train control and function: electrical parts integral for train headlights, rearview cameras, brakes, the driver desk, and more

Passenger comfort and convenience: components for USB charging sources, toilet systems, infotainment, and onboard bistro or vending, as well as onboard batteries

Sophisticated safety systems: cab radios, fire safety, and train control systems. In addition, electrical modules and transformers are in place at the rail side for train crossing, point machines, and computer rooms.

To showcase the critical products offered by Bel Power Solutions, I3D was tasked with creating a 3D, interactive rail experience for Bel Power Solution’s website.

Process & Solution

Several elements have to come together to make a 3D animation, break it down into segments, and turn it into an interactive website. The first focus was the opening shot, showing the train parked, as all the products start their presentation from this viewpoint. Once I3D had the primary opening down, I3D started to lay out the different “levels” of interactivity. This setup included creating product shots and short animation clips to move the user through the railway system. The initial interactive concept was created in PowerPoint and then brought to I3D’s web development team to bring it to life online.

I3D created a 3D electronic train and rail system with call-out buttons. These call-out buttons are a clear and visual way to showcase the many different areas that utilize power sources or electrical parts offered by Bel Power Solutions. These buttons cover Accessibility, Driving Aid, Passenger Convenience, Power Electronics, Safety, and Wayside. The user can click on each area for more detail, virtually traveling through or next to a 3D train to the appropriate location, and see each part offered by Bel Power Solutions.

Results

The result is an incredible interactive experience for the user that provides a unique walkthrough of all the parts, products, and services provided by Bel Rail Technology right at their fingertips on their website. I3D is privileged to offer a unique, exciting experience for Bel Power Solution’s employees and customers.

Bel Power Solutions now has an interactive website that allows its users to feel empowered. The user is in charge; they can search through the entire train platform to find the answer to their needs. It even provides additional information that the user may not have realized they were looking for because it presents in such an eye-catching way. An interactive website attracts more visitors and encourages more website engagement.

The application for a 3D interactive website has grown to broader use, spanning from employee usage to getting accustomed to rail technology features to in-person events. I3D is happy to report that Bel Power Solution’s website users have well received the interactive website. The interactive tool can interact with many people, especially in current times where communities have been stationary. Once more in-person events and demos are available for all, the future of travel will be on the move!

Immersive Reality
Every industry seems to be using animation, CGI, or immersive imagery in some form or another these days. We want to take a look at sports and share how this sector is using technology. Is there a place for VR, AR, or CGI in professional sports?

In recent years, soccer has incorporated VAR or Video-Assistant-Referee. While this isn’t animation, it uses machine-based technology to show the precise location of the player’s position to follow the game’s rules. And now, over the past year, we have started to see more technology in sports.

The pandemic caused the cancellation of many events where people gather, but everyone still wants to feel a bit of “normalcy,” so to speak. So, virtual simulations of various kinds are growing in use. For example, pre-recorded audio helps viewers get the complete feel of the game for television played sports. The audio is adjusted in real-time to go with the flow of the game.

As things continue to progress and change, stadiums are using CGI technology to create virtual crowds. As a result, players feel less alone in the stadium with CGI fans. Of course, this doesn’t compare to true fans being in the seats, but it removes some of the emptiness felt when no one is present.

Other sports are bringing virtual reality to the forefront of the game. A few sports currently testing these technologies and working to improve them are:

The National Basketball Association is trying courtside seating with VR.

Major League Baseball is enhancing its stats for more augmented reality features.

The National Hockey League and Major League Soccer are both improving their VR and AR features.

Several notable NFL teams and college footballs have begun incorporating VR programs into their training practices.

NASCAR racers can strap on a VR headset and train with such incredible technology that the difference between virtual reality and real-world is hard to tell apart.

Soccer is beginning to use VR for athlete training and give fans a behind-the-scenes view of the players in training.

Before the pandemic, researchers estimated VR and AR technologies could grow the global economy by $1.5 trillion. Since the pandemic, this technology has proliferated due to increased need and demand.

As we briefly outlined above, sports companies are turning to immersive experiences to keep fans engaged and entertained – not only during the pandemic but after. Social media companies are partnering with sports clubs to create completely immersive 360-degree computer-generated VR and AR scenes that will eventually increase revenue for sports.

The benefits of VR and AR to enhance visits to sporting events or allow for remote viewing and interaction while increasing profit for sports clubs are not yet fully seen. However, experts believe AR experiences, which combine CGI and real-life images, will be in everyday use first. AR experiences are readily available, once implemented, through iPhones and iPads. VR, on the other hand, requires the use of goggles or handsets. Thus, while increasing in popularity, it is not as readily available.

With the increased demand for immersive technologies, everything is in place for sports organizations to improve operations, make processes faster, improve athlete training, allow for improved interaction with fans and create incredible new experiences. VR and AR have blurred the lines of separation from the real and virtual worlds, thereby becoming an ideal means of supplementing for training, for improving athletes’ skills and knowledge of the game.

It’s no surprise that Virtual Reality has grown in popularity and use the past couple of years. In this article, we’ll look at some of the uses of VR and AR in education – from universities and college students to elementary school.

Schools can transform the classroom with VR and AR systems, making the learning environment as interactive and unique as you need. For example, students can take on investigative crime scenes, travel worldwide, practice surgical procedures, and explore geography or science.

Because VR headsets create a virtual world, students can learn history by traveling through time or travel the world to all the natural wonders of the world. Teachers can guide students through VR as a group or let students learn individually.

Examples of Schools Using VR

Below are a few examples of VR and AR in teaching – from colleges to elementary school.

1) Students learn biology with VR headsets to pick up and examine organs.

2) Medical students are learning acupuncture and how to treat cancer tumors using VR.

3) Students can learn science through AR by bringing a tornado into the classroom, virtually looking through the funnel, or exploring the inner workings of a beehive.

4) There are now various apps to learn frog anatomy (instead of dissecting a frog) or the night sky.

5) Microsoft Hololens allows students to travel through the human body, from blood vessels to bone structure.

6) Students can travel back in time, during World War II using real-life footage to understand what it was like during a historical event.

It is well-known that people learn best by doing, so it makes perfect sense that VR is seen in more schooling applications. VR makes learning interactive, fun, and, most importantly, memorable. There are so many virtual learning experiences; the possibilities are just beginning.

So, take your students on the learning adventure of a lifetime with VR. Get started with an interactive curriculum today.
