Ascension's long-awaited construction project to create a larger parish hall, new narthex, new bathrooms, and a new outdoor patio/commons went to bid in the summer of 2022. For many reasons - including inflation, supply-chain problems, and a very busy local building market - construction bids came in far higher than anticipated.
After much prayer, many hours of meetings with our architects and general contractors (who have been overseeing the numerous bids from many sub-contractors), and following a special vestry meeting, I am pleased to announce that we have been able to negotiate significant savings, and are now ready to move forward with our building project.
The two financial headlines are these:
1) We need to raise an additional $89,000 to complete the current slightly revised project.
2) We want to raise a further $415,000 ASAP (on top of the $89,000) - so that we can put back into the project some of the things that have had to be taken out, including the refurbishment of the staff offices and the replacement of the main entrance doors to the church, and more.
