Backstage Workers Survey
Backstage workers often face a culture of long hours, late nights, unpredictability of buy-outs and regular overtime. This means that backstage workers can face often insurmountable barriers when it comes to meeting work and family commitments.

Parents and Carers in Performing Arts (PiPA) and BECTU are joining forces to identify challenges and potential strategies to better support backstage workers with caring responsibilities. This survey is for anyone working backstage, regardless if they are BECTU members or not. The information shared in this survey will inform the two organisations plan for collectively improving working practices to make work and family life more compatible.

By taking part in this survey, you will be consenting to the use of the information you provide by PiPA and BECTU. This includes presentation of this data within publications and presentations as required.

All records will remain confidential and the questionnaire will not automatically record the names of participants. Your identity will remain confidential to all external parties, including your employer. Please also note that you may decline to answer any questions to which you do not wish to respond.

If you would be interested in contributing further to PiPA's research please leave your contact details at the end of the questionnaire. In this event, any findings stemming from the questionnaire or interview will still remain anonymous and your name and contact details will be stored securely, in line with research obligations under the Data Protection Act and PiPA's GDPR policies.
