Girls Talk Math - FREE Math Day Camp for High School Girls
Thanks for taking the time to apply for "Girls Talk Math" - a FREE math day camp for rising 9th to 12th graders who identify as girls running from June 19th to June 30th, 2017 (Monday through Friday). The day camp will be 9:00am to 4:00pm at the Mathematics Department of UNC - Chapel Hill. Before and after care will be offered beginning at 8:30am and ending at 5:00pm. No overnight accommodations will be provided. Girls Talk Math is a day camp, hence we will not accept applications from students who live outside of a 40 miles radius from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Campers will work on challenging math problems related to female mathematicians’ work throughout history. During the camp the girls will create a podcast series about the life of these female mathematicians, and blog posts about the mathematics they do at camp. The problems will cover math topics outside the high school curriculum, giving the girls a taste of college level mathematics.
No GPA or minimum course requirements: just interest, curiosity and excitement!

We ask that the application is filled out by the campers, with particular attention to the "interest paragraph", which will be considered when acceptance decisions are made.
Please fill out the form by April 8th, 2017. Acceptance notifications will be sent out by April 10th, 2017.

If you have any questions, feel free to email us at girlstalkmath@unc.edu or visit our website at https://girlstalkmath.web.unc.edu, and check out the podcasts and blog posts from last year's run of the camp.

This program is funded by the Mathematical Association of America - Tensor Women and Mathematics Grant.
