Our Keynote Speaker is the Rev. Dr. Mark-Morrison Reed. Raised in the Unitarian Universalist faith, Mark was ordained in the Unitarian Universalist ministry in 1979. For 26 years, he and his wife, Donna, served as co-ministers--first in Rochester, New York, then in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The keynote address is entitled "The Ignored, the Naive, and the Innocent", which will address different ways racism and white supremacy impact all of our children. About his address, Dr. Morrison-Reed says, "Today is an opportunity to focus on our children of color and have a conversation we don’t often have. How do we support them as they navigate a multicultural world which while often seeming benign can feel unwelcoming and at times can be dangerous? " In addition Dr. Morrison-Reed's address, there will be a wide-ranging selection of workshops designed to strengthen your Children and Youth ministries, and support your staff and volunteers. Proposed workshops include Directions in Youth Ministry, Conflict Resolution, Teaching 101, Using Improvisation in the Classroom, Multi-Age Art Activities, All About OWL, with more to be added. A brochure of workshops and programs will be made available later in the summer.
Cost for the conference is $55.00 for individuals and $45.00 per person for teams of 4 or more. We encourage congregations to send teams. Registration includes lunch and light breakfast.
