Join us for a free cybersecurity class at the Wyoming State Museum on Tuesday, May 6, from 5:30 to 7:00 PM. Learn essential cybersecurity and privacy guidelines, including password management, encryption, app safety, social media security, and how to spot online scams. This one-time class is taught by David Horton, a retired Information Security professional who is passionate about teaching cybersecurity awareness in a fun and approachable way.

The course will begin with introductions, then we will begin a 60-minute presentation about the following topics:
  • Security, Privacy, and why they are important

  • Security and Privacy fundamental rules

  • Specific skills/information:

    • Passwords and password management

      • Multi-factor authentication/2-factor authentication (MFA/2FA)

      • Password reset questions

      • Risks of biometrics

    • Encryption: What it is, and what to look for

    • App safety and security - how to check; what to look for

    • Social media - safety, security, and privacy

    • Online scams - what to be on the lookout for.

    • "AI" - what it is, what it isn't, and some things to be aware of

The last 30 minutes of class will be reserved for Q&A.
