Postcard Parties in June in Palo Alto to GOTV for Sister District Candidate Winnie Brinks
We will be working with Sister District to hold two postcard writing parties in June to Get Out The Vote for Winnie Brinks, who is running for a Michigan State Senate seat. Read on for dates and more info...

Why postcard for a state level race in a different state? Michigan is heavily gerrymandered, and it is the state level legislators that vote on how districts are drawn. This impacts who gets elected to Congress, and their votes in turn affect all US residents. Additionally, Republicans currently hold 27 of 38 of the Michigan State Senate seats, 1 more than the 26 required to override a gubernatorial veto. A win here would help towards diminishing that Republican stronghold.

The Democratic Volunteer Center is located at 960 San Antonio Road, in Palo Alto, close to 101. There is a parking lot as well as street parking. Look here for a map: https://tinyurl.com/yd6nyye9

Postcards and stamps will be available for purchase at the event - $5 for a packet of 10 postcards-and-stamps. We will also provide a script for what to write on the postcards, and we ask that postcard writers follow the script precisely - this is due to Michigan campaign finance laws which impact what types of communications do or don't need to be reported as in-kind donations to the campaign.

We will provide coffee and water for folks to enjoy while they write, and if folks wish to bring potluck snacks to share then we can enjoy some yummy foods together, too.

Please RSVP for one or more of the party dates using the form below. If you later find that you can't attend, or if you have any questions, please email us at postcardparties@gmail.com - thanks!
