ACE Course - FY20 Registration Form
Looking for the foundations of 21st Century Interpretation? Want to sharpen your tools? This course focuses on the front-line interpreter’s role as a facilitator of audience centered experiences.
You'll learn about and practice dialogic questions, audience centered techniques, design thinking, and other strategies to invite audience participation and co-creation of meaning around park resources.
You will experience pop-up dialogic products and programs that showcase personal and non-personal audience-centered experiences. This course focuses on learning techniques to hone your skill in inviting visitors to contribute to the park narrative. You'll have a chance to practice engagement strategies for your own park example and refine your interpretive experience through peer collaboration during the class.
By thoughtfully crafting and facilitating conversation around issues critical to the National Park Service and the public, interpreters can be catalysts to engage the public in new and exciting ways.
Mather Training Center will offer three ACE Classes this year at our classrooms in Harpers Ferry, WV:
- February 24th - 28th, 2020
- March 30th - April 3rd, 2020
- July 20th - 24th, 2020
Each of these classes will allow you to choose one of two tracks - the basic ACE curriculum (suitable for front line interpreters and beginners), and the Train-the-Trainer curriculum (suitable for leads, supervisors, and veteran ACE interpreters). We will finalize our rosters about six weeks before each class - expect a message from Mather then.
In addition, Vicksburg National Military Park's ACE instructional team will be offering a week-long Basic ACE class May 4th-8th, 2020.
