The SOLO Wilderness First Aid course is an introduction to the concepts of medical care in wilderness settings. Course instruction emphasizes basic life support skills, minor trauma, specific environmental topics, spine assessment protocol, allergic and anaphylactic reactions, and common medical emergencies encountered in the backcountry. WFA features daily innovative lectures and continual hands on skills practice and simulations.
The WFA is 16 hours long course that has focus on the basic skills of Response and Assessment, Musculoskeletal Injuries, Environmental Emergencies, Survival Skills, Soft Tissue Injuries, and Medical Emergencies.
Todd Johnstone -Wright serves as an instructor educator for SOLO Wilderness Medicine where he works with diverse groups to include, components of the armed forces. Additionally, Todd has earned a Master’s Degree in Education and a second Master’s degree in Performance Coaching at the University of Stirling, Scotland. He also holds awards in the sea kayaking, white water kayaking, ski, climbing, and mountain bicycling disciplines.
The course fee is €145. For those who are attending the course for WFR recertification there is additional cost of 17 €. The course fee includes SOLO administrative cost, lunch each day, and course materials. The course fee must be paid by 29th of October (Friday) 2021 via bank transfer.
Once you complete the application form you will be sent an invoice for the course fee payment followed by more info about the course logistics.
