Networking Day - November 21, 2014

Friday, November 21th, 2014

***Middle/Senior Years

9:30 - 9:45: Arrival – MEET IN MPR - Socializing

* Please note staff are welcome to observe the MY/SY activities or can use a designated space in the building to network with other staff that are attending. There will be no person running this session, it is simply an informal opportunity to meet and dialogue with other staff persons.

9:45 – 10:15: The students will assemble in the MPR. Constable Andrea Cain, School Education Officer from the Winnipeg Police Department, will introduce the topic of “Cyber Bullying”. She will show a short video and then define cyber bullying, explain the impact it has on students, and emphasize the legal consequences of cyber bullying.

10:15 – 12:00: The students will watch the movie Cyberbully, an ABC Family movie. It is about a teenage girl who is bullied online.
When the movie has finished, the students and staff will break into small groups to reflect upon what was just viewed. The discussions will include the dangers that exist online and what to do if a person is being cyber bullied.

12:00 - 12:45: Lunch

Every Networking Day, the students at Manitoba School for the Deaf (MSD) offer a hot lunch for purchase. Funds raised from this fundraising activity are used to support MSD initiatives. MSD students directly benefit from these funds. The students will be selling "Taco in a Bag". Please register for lunch and support our students.

Your support is appreciated!
