Health Survey 2017
In New Zealand it is expected that all public schools will consult with their communities when developing health and sexuality programmes in their schools. It has been two years since the last round of health consultation was completed so we would appreciate it if you could please complete this survey and return it to school by Friday 17th March.
What health services are you aware of that can be accessed through Waiouru School?
What health programmes and at what age levels, would you like these programmes to be taught at Waiouru School? For example: Healthy Eating, Physical Fitness, Body Awareness, Drugs and Alcohol Education, Keeping Ourselves Safe, etc.
It is a requirement that all public primary schools provide reproductive health and positive sexuality education. This is not sex education, but rather educating children on how their bodies are changing in particular during puberty. This is a opt in and out programme, where parents involved will be given the opportunity to speak to the teachers about the content of the programme. At what year level do you think Waiouru School should begin this programme?
Any additional questions, suggestions or comments?
Please feel free to make an appointment to see Marama directly if you wish to discuss the school health programme further.
