(This form was created by Susan of Ward 2 and Kara of Ward 3, who recently met with youth leaders Molly, the 2nd grade originator of the Lincoln Ave movement sidewalk back in 2020, and Maeve, the 7th grade moderator of the Difference Makers T.P. Middle School mayoral forum in 2022.)
The goal is to have TkPk kids take on planning their own temporary movement/art projects as well as changing policy around community "placemaking" (community inclusion and art) projects in Takoma Park.
This form is intended to gather more youth leaders of all ages in all wards (and artists, and others willing to help out). Youth and/or their grown-ups can reply*. Response to this survey means we can email you occasionally with updates.
The spring-2023 future might hold a few weekend strategy sessions, and some municipality meetings seeking permission for pilot projects. The summer-2023 future will hopefully hold design events and painting parties in all six TkPk wards to bring together Kids and Artists and Safe Routes and Movement advocates.
Given the 16 year voting age in Takoma Park MD, we're focusing municipal policies in this community, but hopefully the project will also include youth and painting in Takoma D.C.
*Form is collecting YOUR email (the grown up) for occasional updates so you know what's going on and can jump in at any point. *If a child has an email they can also fill out this form. * In the interests of local advocacy, comments, total numbers/ages of family members, geographies, etc, will be anonymized, aggregated, and/or shared with city government.
