Mini-Institute B: Science, Data, IEFA and Grizzly Bears with Montana Teacher of the Year Linda Rost -This session will engage teachers as students as they review the current data on Yellowstone’s grizzly bear population. Teachers will learn about the recent delisting controversy, analyze data, and determine if the populations have met the parameters for delisting. Each student has an opportunity to analyze the data at their own individual levels, identify patterns, and determine if the parameters have been met. Then, they share their findings in groups and work together to form a consensus. Finally, they develop recommendations to manage this bear population. Students engage in high-level data analysis and authentic group work through this project.
