What is the Pros V Joes CTF?
This event is an opportunity for average users (Joes) to try their hand at both the offensive and defensive side of computer security. For the Pro's, it's a chance to hone and show off their skills, helping others to learn and better themselves. It's also a lot of fun.
Joes are split up into teams, each with a Pro captain, and given their own network to defend against the other Pros in our Red Cell. Each team's network is full of servers and desktops running Windows, Linux, your standard services like DNS, Web, Mail, and others. Of course, there will be more than a few surprises...
What are we looking for?
We need volunteers to help run the show. Each volunteer will cover two 3 hour shifts (for a total of 6 hours during the conference), assisting game administrators with critical tasks. For those who were unable to join the game this year before registration was closed, this is an opportunity to be involved. Volunteers who help out will get a badge to the conference, as well as being given first preference for next year's Pros V Joes CTF registration.
Most shifts will be on Tuesday and Wednesday, during the game, but we also need volunteers for Monday to help with pre-game setup.
Volunteers will need a smart phone and a laptop. Personal equipment will NOT be in the line of fire. Please do not sign up unless you have the two means to connect into the environment.
Please send any questions you may have to @dichotomy1 on Twitter.
