Whatever medium you choose to work with, it's important to acquire certain basic skills so you
can create a successful painting. This class gets down to the nitty gritty. You'll be introduced to
the materials, equipment and techniques associated with the process of painting backed up by
detailed step-by-step demonstrations. This class will get you started and build your confidence.
No previous drawing or painting experience is necessary (or even preferred) so come and find
out what it's all about.

• Acrylic Paints (Liquitex: Burnt Sienna, Dioxazine Purple,
Ultramarine Blue, Alizarin Crimson, Napthol Crimson,
Yellow Oxide, Cadmium Yellow Medium, Sap Green Permanent).
• Do not buy student grade paints, Liquitex Basic -Student grade paints are cheaper
because they contain more water and do not cover well. We can add our own water.
• Do buy Liquitex Professional/Artist color marked Heavy Body.
• 1 Stretched Canvas (size 16"x 20")*
• Bristle Brushes** get 1 each #2, #4, #6 & #10 in a style called "Brights." ("Brights"
have shorter bristles than "Flats.")
• Small, shallow, sandwich size plastic container with snap-on lid
• Small container for holding water to clean your brushes
• Small misting, spray bottle (travel size)
• Rag
• Masking tape (Blue painters tape is best)
• 1" Foam Brush
• Note pad, pen and graphite pencil

**Bristle brushes are white, stiff brushes usually made from hog's hair. They are NOT,
however, brushes made of hair or nylon which are generally too soft for acrylic painting.
