High Marq Student Enrollment Application for the 2019-20 School Year

High Marq Environmental Charter School is open to all District students entering grades 7-11 for voluntary application and enrollment. Open enrollment students, expelled students, and dropouts up to the age of 21 (22 for special education students) may also attend the school in accordance with state law and District policies. An application and writing sample are required as part of the admissions process.

NOTE: If you need a paper application, please contact the school at hmecs@montelloschools.org!

Open Enrollment
Students applying from outside of the Montello School District must complete the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction application for Open Enrollment (http://dpi.wi.gov/open-enrollment) prior to the April 30th deadline. Students who miss the regular Open Enrollment deadline will be included in the initial lottery but will be admitted on a preliminary basis, pending an approved Alternative Open Enrollment application (http://dpi.wi.gov/open-enrollment/applications/alternative), which must be submitted between 7/1 and 7/15 and subsequently approved by the Montello Board of Education.
Admissions Lotteries
If there are more applicants than available seats, the Governing Council will use a random lottery system for students wishing to enroll in the school. All children of founding members (all members, both voting and non‐voting, of the Governance Council who served prior to the first day of the 2010‐11 school year) shall be exempt from the admissions lottery. Siblings of current students of High Marq Environmental Charter School shall also be exempt from the admissions lottery. After lotteries are held on May 15th and July 15th, vacant spots will remain open for first‐come, first‐serve enrollment until we reach a cap of 16 students per teacher, or until 2 weeks after the first day of school. If the enrollment cap has not been reached, students may be accepted during the school year. Such enrollment shall only be allowed under extenuating circumstances, at the sole discretion of the Governance Council, and on a case‐by‐case basis.
