SymPortal is an analytical framework designed to phylogenetically resolve putative taxa within the Symbiodiniaceae using NGS amplicon data of the ITS2 region. Our platform leverages the considerable intragenomic diversity present in every Symbiodiniaceae genome to provide a resolution comparable to hypervariable markers like the chloroplastic psbAncr while also offering a broader taxonomic scope for comparisons [more].
To use SymPortal.org, you will need paired-end non-trimmed ITS2 amplicon data amplified using the SYM_VAR_5.8S2/SYM_VAR_REV primer set. You can find more information on the methods here and here.
Please note that we do not have dedicated funds to run SymPortal.org. Rather we maintain and offer SymPortal analysis as a community service. Therefore, please be patient and cite the relevant publications in your papers that use SymPortal analyses.
