This form has been designed to become a member of the Future Earth Urban Knowledge-Action Network (Urban KAN).
VISION
We envision sustainable and equitable cities where diverse actors work collaboratively and
openly to produce and implement integrated knowledge in coordinated knowledge infrastructures
to support real-world sustainability challenges and catalyse urban transformation.
MISSION
Our mission is to contribute to the transition toward sustainable urban futures where cities are
more livable, equitable and resilient through transdisciplinary collaboration and solutions-oriented research. This is achieved by facilitating, co-designing, synthesizing and amplifying new
knowledge, building community of practice and mobilizing capacity, capturing innovation,
galvanizing action, envisioning positive pathways for the future, and accelerating institutional
change.
ACTIVITIES
The Urban Knowledge-Action Network (Urban KAN) activities are in line with the KAN Vision and
Mission, have been designed to support evidence-based change in society, and contribute to the
three-part
Future Earth Global Strategy (facilitate Research and Innovation, Build and Mobilize
Networks, and Shape the Global Narrative).
WHAT IS A MEMBER?
An individual or institution that supports and follows the Urban KAN’s activities. The members contribute to the KAN by sharing activities, voting for new SC members, sharing data, providing additional information, contribute to specific decision making when needed, and provide inputs upon request. Members can also nominate and be nominated to become Steering Committee members, they can develop and propose Working Groups.
