The organisation’s purposes are:
To preserve, conserve and promote, for the benefit of the
general public, the historic social, architectural and
constructional heritage of the Springburn Winter Gardens, a
category A listed building;
To support the maintenance, development and operation of the
Springburn Winter Gardens as an amenity for the social,
educational and cultural welfare of the general public;
The advancement of education, citizenship and community
development through the voluntary participation of the local
community in activities relating to the Springburn Winter
Gardens.
The membership structure of Springburn Winter Gardens is as follows:
The ASSOCIATE MEMBERS – who support the purposes of
the organisation and have no powers under the constitution
The MEMBERS - who have the right to attend members'
meetings (including any annual general meeting) and have
important powers under the constitution; in particular, the
members appoint people to serve on the board and take
decisions on changes to the constitution itself;
The BOARD - who hold regular meetings, and generally control
the activities of the organisation; for example, the board is
responsible for monitoring and controlling the financial position
of the organisation.
