Welcome to Age Strong's Senior Wellness Classes at Spontaneous Celebrations 
Thank your for your interest in the 2025 Senior Wellness programs provided by Boston's Age Strong Commission at Spontaneous Celebrations in Jamaica Plain. These classes all all FREE and run until December 18.  We encourage you to register here, but drop-ins are always welcome. This site has descriptions of the classes offered and a place to sign up. This will also get you on our mailing list for additional programs for older adults in Boston. All classes are held at Spontaneous Celebrations, 45 Danforth Street in Jamaica Plain.

Welcome to Age Strong's Senior Wellness Programs at Spontaneous Celebrations 
1) Finding Peace in a Frantic World: an 8-week introductory course developed by the Oxford Mindfulness Centre and based on the best selling book, Mindfulness: A Practical Guide to Finding Peace in a Frantic World by Mark Williams and Danny Penman. The  practical and accessible course is designed for beginners or older adults with busy lives and limited time. Through guided mindfulness practices,group discussion and guided audio recordings to practice at home for 10 minutes a day, you will learn the essential principles of mindfulness and techniques to build a mindfulness practice.

2) Chair Yoga and Rhythmic Flow: A seated yoga class that integrates gentle stretching, breathwork, and rhythmic movements set to soothing or familiar music. This class is great for seniors with limited mobility.
Incorporates: Seated sun salutations, gentle spinal twists, breath-coordinated arm movements, and ankle/knee mobility exercises, finishing with a relaxing body scan.

3) Gentle Pilates for Core & Mobility: A core-strengthening and mobility-focused class using modified Pilates exercises to improve posture, stability, and joint health. Designed to be gentle and accessible for older adults. Incorporates: Seated and standing core engagement exercises, leg and hip mobility movements, and light balance work, using breath to guide movements.

4) Senior Sound Bath: This is an opportunity to come, unwind, unplug from the stressors of your day and just lie down (or be seated) and let the sounds of the crystal singing bowls transport you to a place of calm and tranquility. Participants are encouraged to bring a blanket or yoga mat and an eye mask. No movement or meditation experience needed for this.

5) Bollywood Dance: A senior Bollywood dance class is a dance class specifically designed for older adults that focuses on the vibrant and expressive dance style of Bollywood, originating from the Indian film industry. These classes typically incorporate low-impact movements, fun and energetic music, and focus on creating a positive and social environment for seniors to enjoy the art of dance.
 
6) Morning Stretch: Morning Movement and Stretching is a class designed to teach seniors basic stretching routines they can do at home to keep their bodies flexible and healthy.
