Who we are
The Emerald City Mudhens are a staple in the Seattle rugby scene. With one team currently represented in the Pacific Northwest Rugby Football Union (PNRFU), the Mudhens are a powerful force in D2 Womxn’s Rugby. Since our inception, the Mudhens have always been about more than just sport. Being a Mudhen is an opportunity to see the Pacific Northwest, to create community, and to volunteer and organize within the greater Seattle community.
Mudhen Rugby is a family of women and nonbinary players working on and off the pitch to create and expand a bold, inclusive, and empowered community. We represent players who have never picked up a rugby ball before stepping onto our pitch and players with full decades of experience under their belt. Mudhens currently range in age from 22 to 34, hail from all over North America, and hold careers in education, construction, biochemistry, the local food movement, and more. Mudhens are about community— within our team, within the LGBTQIA+ community, and within our city.
