University Counseling Guidelines and Expectations (Class of 2024)
The University Counselors on both the Arusha and Moshi campuses support students in making informed choices when applying to higher education and finding institutions that support and further their academic goals and aspirations.  Together we have developed Guidelines and Expectations for the university application process that we ask each D1 student and their parents to acknowledge.

The rationale for these Guidelines is to ensure three things:

1) that each student’s university application process runs smoothly and effectively;

2) that UWC East Africa and its students adhere to the ethical standards set forth in the Code of Ethics and Professional Practices (CEPP) put forth by the International Association of College Admissions Counseling (International ACAC) of which we are a member; and

3) that UWC values of integrity, honesty and equity are upheld in all dealings and the allocation of resources.

Please acknowledge after each statement and sign at the bottom to signify that you have read and understood UWC East Africa's guidelines and expectations regarding your child's obligations within the University Advising program and university admissions.

I agree to review the UWC East Africa University and Career Counseling website for policies, documents, dates, events. *
Required
I will make sure I am informed of, and that I adhere to, the UWC East Africa’s deadlines and procedures as published on the UWC East Africa University and Career Counseling website. I understand that meeting these deadlines is in my best interest, in order to provide adequate time for the University Counselor to process my supporting documentation and provide their best advocacy. If I am unable to comply with published deadlines and procedures, I will not be given top priority based on the workload of my counselor. *
Required
I, the student, am the person responsible for keeping track of and meeting external university deadlines and application requirements. *
Required
 In keeping with the UWC East Africa ethos, I will be honest and forthcoming in all aspects of my interactions with universities, teachers, and my University Counselor. I will be truthful and accurate in listing activities and awards, and I will ensure that all essays/ personal statements are my own work. I understand that universities may withdraw offers if they have any doubt about the authenticity of my application. * ** *
Required
If my family and I choose to work with an independent educational consultant (IEC), I understand that  UWC East Africa will not share school documents with IECs but only with universities directly. I also understand that the IEC can only communicate with the University Counsellor, and no other staff members. * *
 I understand that universities will not consider my application if they suspect that the work submitted is not my own. I also understand that if an external party is overly involved in the writing of my essays, letters of recommendation, or any other part of my application, UWC East Africa will treat this as academic dishonesty and has the right to disclose this to the universities I apply to.
I understand that UWC East Africa will support a maximum of 10 university applications per student, following the guidance to create a balanced list (Reach, Match, and Likely). This is a lifetime application limit so if I apply in more than one year, I will need to deduct the number of applications I have already made from the total number UWC East Africa will support. [Note: For countries with application platforms (i.e. Studielink, OUAC, UCAS, and others) multiple applications can count as one. [Students please visit the University and Career Guidance website under the Applications tab for additional information].  *
Required
If I am unsuccessful with my 10 applications (and followed the guidance of my counsellor in making my selections) due to being denied or if accepted but the financial aid award is not sufficient to meet my financial need as verified by my university counselor, I understand that he/she will work with me to acquire acceptance into a university within the same application year beyond the 10 university rule. *
