Call for Proposals for Spring 2026 Conference held at Washington and Lee University on April 18th 2026

The Foreign Language Association of Virginia provides an opportunity to share innovative teaching, technology, research and student success strategies. The Conference Committee invites proposals for active and engaging presentations on topics related, but not limited to:

Supporting beginning teachers
Promoting active use of the target language
Making the most of classroom time
Supporting learning for all students
Active and instructional strategies
Innovative instructional methodology
Innovative assessment strategies
Technology strategies for all students
Technology strategies and needs for students with disabilities
Sessions in the target language
Dual immersion programs
Heritage language learners
Support distance learning and teaching
Support online teaching to engage and support all students
Incorporating social justice in the language classroom
Focusing on equity, inclusion, and diversity in language teaching and learning
Developing intercultural competence

The Call for Proposals is now open through January 11, 2026.

Please use the proposal submission form to be considered to present at the conference.
All presentations will be 1 hour. FLAVA will assign your presentation time and ask that you adhere to it.

*Please note: all presenters are required to register and be paid in full for the Spring 2026 FLAVA Conference by March 15th 2026.
