Driver Education-Behind the Wheel (BTW) Registration Rules and Expectations: To be eligible for Behind the Wheel, students must be 16 years of age by 10/18/2024, all unpaid balance of book fees, lunch and the Behind the Wheel lab fee of $250.00 (Free/Reduced status applies) must be paid. However, filling out the registration form will not be a guarantee that a student will be enrolled in BTW class. Enrollment is based on DOB, scheduling availability, and eligibility. If a student doesn't receive a spot, a refund can be requested or their payment will be applied to the next BTW session.

To register your student for the class he/she must meet the following requirements: It is a state requirement that a student must pass classroom to take BTW and must also pass eight courses in the previous two semesters. Ten (10) or more hours of driving with a parent/adult are required before taking BTW. Students should have held their white slips for a minimum of two months before taking BTW. Attendance requirements are established by the State Board of Education and are as follows: An absence is when a student does not drive on his/her day of BTW for any particular reason. Any absence beyond one (2) will result in a drop from BTW. A unique situation could occur in which the student is absent for the initial lesson of BTW. In this case, the student will not be allowed to begin BTW. Students must wear shoes that have a closed back. Tennis shoes are preferred. No flip-flops/sandals. All QHS school rules will apply…. No hats, sunglasses, etc. See student handbook.

I understand that submitting an an inaccurate application will result in the application being deleted and that I must fill out a new application with correct information. I understand that submitting an application and payment by the deadline will only place the student on the list to be scheduled. Students will be scheduled according to their birth date and availability, the class will be filled until the number of slots is full. If a student doesn't receive a spot, a refund can be requested or their payment will be applied to the next BTW session. Students' schedules will be changed adding BTW if they receive a spot.
