Career Services Graduate Internship
Overview of Career Services
UNI Career Services helps students Prepare for Life by guiding them to be engaged citizens who manage their own careers, and fulfill their own meaning and purpose. We accomplish this by providing access to over 4000 employers (70,000 alumni) and nearly 10,000 unique jobs and opportunities annually. Our goal is to lead every student to gain pre-professional experience prior to graduation, through either field experiences/student teaching or internships and part-time jobs. We host four large-scale recruitment events (fall and spring fairs for campus, an international teaching fair, and a traditional teaching fair).

As home of UNI Student Employment, Career Services manages the largest employment group at UNI. Our belief is that a campus job is more than a paycheck, it is a place to grow professionally and personally. We provide students access to over 4500 campus positions, helping them connect with opportunities related to future career.

Mission Statement: We help students succeed.

Assignment Options (select only one):
1) Career Assistant
Career Assistants play a key role in helping students prepare for the job search. This position is an entry-level position within Career Services. You will coach students 1:1 on the job search, application materials (resume, cover letter, and LinkedIn), and exploring careers and majors. As part of this position, you will present to classes and student organizations, as well as provide outreach services, representing Career Services.

2) Student Employment Assistant (FILLED for Fall 2018)
As home to the largest employment group at UNI, Career Services provides support to the 4000+ student employees. This job is to assist with processing the hiring paperwork: meeting federal regulations. In addition, you may be asked to lead a training session for either students or employers. This is a high profile position at UNI, meaning you will get to know faculty and staff across campus.

3) Data Analytics (Fall Semester Only)
UNI Career Services uses data to drive our services as well as develop meaning to the economic situations students face. In the fall semester, you would be collecting data of recent graduates and assist with data clean-up, analysis, and publication of information. Our goal is to make the information usable to all readers. As part of this internship, you will be tasked with analyzing a specific data set and completing a project based upon your findings.

4) Event Services/Employer Relations Assistant (Spring Semester Only - FILLED)
UNI Career Services brings over 450 employers to campus each year for our four major recruiting events (three in the spring). This level of coordination requires a great customer service mind combined with attention to detail. In this internship, you will be supporting the staff in executing the events, including: communication with participants, recruiting volunteers, and supporting the event team.
