Assignment Options (select only one):1) Career AssistantCareer Assistants play a key role in helping students prepare for the job search. This position is an entry-level position within Career Services. You will coach students 1:1 on the job search, application materials (resume, cover letter, and LinkedIn), and exploring careers and majors. As part of this position, you will present to classes and student organizations, as well as provide outreach services, representing Career Services.
2) Student Employment Assistant (FILLED for Fall 2018) As home to the largest employment group at UNI, Career Services provides support to the 4000+ student employees. This job is to assist with processing the hiring paperwork: meeting federal regulations. In addition, you may be asked to lead a training session for either students or employers. This is a high profile position at UNI, meaning you will get to know faculty and staff across campus.
3) Data Analytics (Fall Semester Only)UNI Career Services uses data to drive our services as well as develop meaning to the economic situations students face. In the fall semester, you would be collecting data of recent graduates and assist with data clean-up, analysis, and publication of information. Our goal is to make the information usable to all readers. As part of this internship, you will be tasked with analyzing a specific data set and completing a project based upon your findings.
4) Event Services/Employer Relations Assistant (Spring Semester Only - FILLED) UNI Career Services brings over 450 employers to campus each year for our four major recruiting events (three in the spring). This level of coordination requires a great customer service mind combined with attention to detail. In this internship, you will be supporting the staff in executing the events, including: communication with participants, recruiting volunteers, and supporting the event team.
Terms of Internship- 10 hours per week, though hours will increase during peak seasons and decrease near the end of semesters.- You would be mentored by and report to the team lead for each area listed above.- Career Services will host a maximum of two interns per semester, though may not hire any some semesters (please contact Career Services early in your graduate program if you are interested).- All applicants will interview and Career Services will determine if assistance is needed. We want you to have a great experience, so we will not “hire” you unless there is enough work to be done. - Career Services will host an interview day to review all candidates after the first contact day occurs. - This position is unpaid, but you must be enrolled in internship credit or practicum experience
Qualifications- Exhibit positive and motivated attitude!- Experience in a Career Services or Student Employment office strongly preferred.- Knowledge of recruiting, on-boarding, or training/teaching is preferred.- Experience using Symplicity or Handshake CRM products is preferred.
