Research as Praxis: Research Positionality - November 14, 2019
This workshop will examine the question: How does being or not being a member of "the community" you are researching (while affiliated with a university) affect positionality and research approaches? In this workshop, Dr. Prado will help students navigate their varying positionalities in relation to research. She will ask students to consider the ways in which their positions at the intersections of the various communities of which they are a part (with which they or may or may not be working) affect their approaches to research. Dr. Prado will also share about her own experiences navigating researcher positionality while conducting community-based research, as well as strategies for negotiating challenges as they arise.
