Defend NUS Liberation - No to Fascism - an NUS for all
Students of African, Arab, Asian and Caribbean descent are facing unprecedented levels of racism and Islamophobia as hate crimes have risen to unprecedented levels. The far right Generation Identity are attempting to recruit students to the far right, with leaflets that target migrants and Muslim women. Steve Bannon, who says let being called a racist be worn as a badge of honour, recently spoke at Oxford Union. The leader of the far right AFD party from Germany was forced to withdraw from Oxford Union following a campaign against the invitation. Against this backdrop, the NUS must continue to defend and support the liberation campaigns for Black Students, Women, LGBT+, Trans, Disabled & International students and the NUS Anti-Racism Anti-Fascism Campaign, which exist to represent, defend and support students who are consistently targeted for hate crimes and by the far right.

We the undersigned pledge our opposition to the far right and to defending the liberation campaigns in NUS from any attempts to cut them back, as vital elements in the fight against hate crime and the far right.
