Thank you so much for your interest in participating in the 1:1 NSLI-Y Virtual Mentor/Mentee Match!
The NSLI-Y Applicant Mentorship program is a new initiative that will pair prospective applicants with program alumni who can help guide them through the application process and beyond. We hope that both mentors and mentees can engage in constructive dialogue about topics like the importance of studying abroad, how to best experience life in a foreign country, educational and career paths beyond language exchange, and more.
We will work to provide an alumni mentor match that may be able to help answer questions about the program and the application.
Please complete the following questionnaire so we can best assist you with an alumni mentor.
You will be expected to meet with your alumni mentor once by November 4.
We will do our best to match you with an Alumni mentor. If you are contacted about the mentorship program after completing the form, please respond in a timely manner so we can do our best to match you.
Please also note that mentees will be expected to abide by the Mentee Code of Conduct (below)
Code of Conduct:
1. I understand that while alumni mentors can give advice and discuss their personal experiences with the NSLI-Y program, they will not edit applications or application essays.
2. If chosen, I will virtually communicate with a NSLI-Y alumni mentor at the agreed-upon time(s).
3. If chosen, I will complete the post-meetup Google survey.
4. I understand that the views of alumni mentors reflect their personal experiences and not necessarily those of the NSLI-Y program.
5. I understand that the Alumni Mentorship program is primarily an activity of the NSLI-Y Alumni Association and not of NSLI-Y staff. If chosen I will be notified by an Alumni Representative of the NSLI-Y program.
6. I understand that if I am under 18, I may be asked for additional materials to be matched to an alumni mentor.
