NO HOUSING NO PEACE revisits the events of the 1988 Tompkins Square riot and its aftermath. Issues at the core of the conflict include policing, homelessness, and the uses of public space all within the larger context of increasing neighborhood gentrification. The ensemble performance seeks to accurately reflect multiple perspectives from those who lived through, witnessed, and made decisions on the events. Each one hour performance will be followed by refreshments and facilitated open dialogue on the issues raised in the work and their connections to the present.Ryan Gilliam - Project DirectorProduced by Downtown Art (www.downtownart.org) and FABnyc (www.fabnyc.org)
