Welcome!
SKODEN is an action camp put together by indigenous trainers, for indigenous peoples. This is a four day non-violent direct action and action skills training camp for indigenous activists, organizers, community members, and protectors of all nations.

Thank you for your interest in IP3's 2019 SKODEN Action Camp! We look forward to meeting, networking and training with you. Please read the application carefully and let us know if you have any questions or concerns. ***Note: This camp is for 18 years and older***

IP3 is a Non-Violent Direct Action (NVDA) training and support network advancing Indigenous communities’ ability to exercise their inherent rights to environmental justice, cultural livelihood, and self-determination. The IP3 team of trainers, cultural practitioners, and action coordinators offer NVDA training, action support, and network building that are customized to fit the traditions of Indigenous communities.

We will be working on a sliding scale registration fee, with a minimum of $50 to $500 (no one will be turned away for lack of funds). We strongly encourage participants representing Movements and Organizations to cover these fees. Some travel support is available and we will be working on setting up ride shares for those in need.

Space is limited. Application closes August 20th at 11:59pm.

This camp will include training tracks and workshops in NVDA, including direct skills in Creative Resistance, Blockades, and Climbing. A little bit about these tracks:

Climbing:  Participants in the climb track will cover techniques, equipment, and procedures used by climbers globally.  Rope access principles, mechanical devices, and other climbing methods will be introduced.  The concepts shared can be adopted by all those who integrate climbing, protest, and resistance.

Blockades: Participants in this track will learn essential skills for occupying space using technical tools and their own bodies with a focus on developing skills that will be useful in their broader activist communities.

Creative Resistance:  Participants in this track will learn the essential skills to make and use banners, silk screens, props, posters, graphics, puppets and a variety of other tools to produce effective high quality images for use in direct action, street theater, marches, protests, etc.
