FUNDAMENTAL ANALYSIS

Fundamental Analysis 1: How to Find Good Stocks and Avoid Bad Ones

There are over 200 stocks in the Philippine Stock Exchange. Knowing what stocks to pick and why you pick them will help you in your stock market venture.  The module will tackle how you can select stocks based on where the economy is headed, it will also teach you how to select stocks based on which sector and industry is doing well.  The module will also teach you how to analyze a company using quantitative analysis along with ratio analysis.

The module will help you select companies that are profitable, liquid, leveraged, and has a good source of cash flow.

Fundamental Analysis 2: How to Compute for the Fair Value of a Stock

This module will zero in on how you can spot companies that are cheap, profitable and growing. With that knowledge it will allow us to compute for the fair value of the stock.

The whole context of the computation would all be about using Warren Buffet's approach on selecting good and growing companies. How can you actually know what company is worth by using its earnings? Learn how to compute the fair value of the company by your own analysis by using a variety of mathematical methods.  The computation of the Fair Value of the stock would be based on stocks that have passed the criteria for companies that have durable competitive advantage.

The session would be workshop type which would allow the attendees to compute for the values themselves based on their own timeframes and holding period.   This would let you know as an investor if the stock that you are buying is undervalued and if it should be bought or if the stock is already overvalued and should be avoided.

Fundamental Analysis 3: Qualitative Fundamental Analysis, Portfolio Management and Stock Allocation

The first two modules focused on quantitative analysis using both a top down and bottom up approach. This module will kick off using qualitative methods in Fundamental Analysis.

While the second part of this module will focus on how you manage and allocate your stock well. Have you ever bought the right stock but lost out because you did not allocate your position well?  Do you want to invest and know strategic areas on how you can buy and sell without using technical analysis?  Do you want to trade stocks in a very stress free manner?  This is what Portfolio Management is all about!  Learn the basics of proper stock allocation, stock re-balancing, how many stocks should you have in your portfolio and how to manage your fund passively by looking at it from a portfolio management perspective.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY about the seminars and the books:

"Ten year olds attend Marvin Germo’s “Stock Smarts” seminar. He has such a heart for helping people understand that the stock market is not a scary monster who will eat your money. A little knowledge from him goes a long way."

– Maricar Reyes-Poon, Actress/Model

“Marvin is right, if our Philippine stock market is made up of mostly foreign investors, I believe it’s time to take part in the growth of our own beloved market! Time to be Stock Smart!”

– Rich Alvarez, PBA Player

“In my decade of work as a journalist, no one has made the stock market sound so interesting and easy as Marvin has. .”

– Bernadette Reyes, Senior Correspondent, GMA7

Marvin’s first book was an instant bestseller as it gave valuable lessons on the stock market and investing in very easy to understand layman’s language. The second book is written at a very opportune time—the Philippines is taking off and is forecast to be entering a period of strong growth for the next decade or so. With increasing wealth, people are looking for options for their hard-earned money, but may be jittery as the road ahead is never straight. This book should help reassure you, when the inevitable dips and valleys come.”

– Riza Mantaring, CEO, Sun Life Financial

“Some people have a gift of simplifying the intimidating and making the elusive approachable. Marvin is one of them. Marvin’s new book is a fresh take on how investors, both beginners and veterans, can raise their chances of making money in the stock market. It is both inspirational and instructional. His investing approach will set you up on a new path of owning your dreams.”

– Mike Oyson, CFA, CEO, BPI Trade

“Definitely a great read at a great time just when the Philippines and its middle class are regaining the lost ground of recent decades; presents a very practical approach to understanding the complex intricacies and not-so-apparent risks of the stock market. Most importantly, it gives the small guy a fighting chance”

– David Ingles, Anchor, Bloomberg TV
