CONSENT TO PARTICIPATE IN A RESEARCH STUDY

The effects of weightlifting on the frequency of musculoskeletal injuries in soccer

PURPOSE OF THE STUDY

You are being asked to be in a research study. I would like to find out more about the relationship between weightlifting and injury frequencies.

NUMBER OF STUDY PARTICIPANTS

If you decide to be in this study, you will be one of 110 people in this research study.

DURATION OF THE STUDY

Your participation will require the completion of a google form.

PROCEDURES

If you agree to be in the study, I will ask you the following things:

Age?

Gender?

Player position (GK, Defense, Midfielder, Winger, Striker)?

Hours lifting weights per week (1-8+ hours)?

Injuries over the past 4 years (lower body, midsection, upper body? I will give them some basic injury groups, such as muscle tear, muscle strain (pull), bone fracture, stress fracture, and sprains)?.

RISKS AND/OR DISCOMFORTS

The research asks participants a question about gender(s), which may make some feel uncomfortable.

BENEFITS

The following benefits may be associated with your participation in this study: Gain knowledge about weightlifting and how it correlates to injury once my project is complete. Participants would also receive information about the highest risk positions. If this question proves a positive correlation, coaches and players could implement weightlifting programs into their regular training in order to focus on minimizing the risk for future injuries. It will fill the gap by providing a baseline of data regarding injury and if/how it relates to weightlifting.

ALTERNATIVES
