Geneva Health Forum - Mental Health in Humanitarian Programs Roundtable
In a world of complex, protracted crises, populations are struggling to rebuild while mental health needs rise and resources decline. A study by United for Global Mental Health and the Mental Health Innovation Network reports a 20–30% drop in global funding for mental health and psychosocial support, severely affecting people in humanitarian settings (Sept 2025). This gap between commitments and reality has lasting impacts on individuals and communities.

Effective mental health responses must be rooted in existing systems. Primary health care alone cannot meet the needs without active engagement from community actors, ensuring accessible, sustainable, and context-appropriate interventions.

Building on this observation, ALIMA and Terre des hommes Foundation are bringing together experts in the field and inviting humanitarian actors to take part in this reflection on this central question.
