HSHacks V Director Application
Hi there! We're excited to see that you're interested in being a part of the HSHacks organizing team. HSHacks has historically been the largest and oldest high school hackathon in the country, and we're looking to build on our past success while learning from our mistakes to make our fifth event the best one yet.

We're not just looking for "hackers" and programmers to join our organizing team. If you have experience planning events or meetings, designing graphics, running social media accounts, leading organizations/clubs, or just about anything else, we'd love to have you on our team!

For HSHacks V, we are:
- Looking to hold our event in March of 2020, although this may change
- Aiming for a balanced gender ratio for both our organizing team and attendees
- Targeting 400-500 high school attendees
- Attracting student attendees from a variety of different backgrounds, including underrepresented groups in STEM, from all across the Bay Area (and maybe even country)

Organizers are split into 4 branches:
- Operations, which is in charge of making the event itself successful, including organizing the schedule, meals, liability waivers, prizes, mentors, games, etc.
- Sponsorship, which is in charge of reaching out to companies, sponsors, and partners to obtain donations, prizes, APIs, etc.
- Tech, which creates the hackathon website, mobile apps, bots, etc.
- Outreach, which promotes the event through social media, campus ambassadors, posters, press, etc. and processes attendee applications

This application is open to all individuals who meet the following criteria:
- Attending high school during the 2019-2020 school year
- Participated in at least 1 hackathon
- Has some experience leading hackathons, organizations, school clubs, etc.

We expect you to:
- Commit 3-6 hours per week, which may increase closer to the event
- Complete assigned tasks on time
- Be available for weekly director and team calls
- Stay active on our Slack channel and messaging apps, and respond to all communications within 24 hours

Being a director will mean that you will take on a larger role compared to team members. You will be responsible for one of the four branches, and will lead a team of 2 to 6 people. This role will require a larger time commitment, and you will be shouldering more responsibility. However, you will have more opportunities to demonstrate your leadership abilities (including to colleges 😄), gain more experience, and play a major role in shaping how HSHacks is run.

If you are looking to be a team member but not a director, you do not need to fill out this form. Instead, fill out the team application at the following link: https://forms.gle/jpRVUEtLTHT2tx5o9

The deadline for this application is Sunday, August 25th, at 11:59 PM. After submitting, be on the lookout for an email with information about an interview call. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to tom@hshacks.com.
