NGO Committee on Migration - Survey on Migrant and Refugee Victims of Xenophobia and Intolerance
In the midst of unprecedented levels of migration around the world, the UN Secretary-General has declared that “Xenophobic and racist rhetoric seems to be not only on the rise but also becoming more socially and politically accepted.” The personal costs of xenophobia and discrimination are high, the social, political and economic ones even higher. Hostility, tension and friction are tearing communities apart, leaving everyone poorer in spirit.
The NGO Committee on Migration is asking for your help. The attached survey will assist us in preparing recommendations to the United Nations Global Compacts for Refugees and Migrants and to the UN-led Together Campaign, whose mission is to counter xenophobia in all its forms, to promote the social inclusion of all migrants and refugees, and to create peaceful and harmonious societies. The goal of our survey is to attain a better understanding of xenophobia, barriers to social inclusion, gaps in service, promising practices, as well as challenges that your organization has identified in its valuable work.
In order to get the most reliable, first-hand information, we ask that respondents to this survey be those members of your organization who work directly with migrants and or/refugees in a specific location. If your organization has multiple projects, please fill out one form for each project. The survey should take approximately 15 minutes to complete. All information will remain confidential, unless your organization specifically consents to its being publicized or shared. We would appreciate it if you could complete the survey by Monday, Nov. 20, 2017.
The NGO Committee on Migration will select the top five Best Practices submissions for presentation at a special event to be held at UN Headquarters in New York at a time and place to be announced.
Thank you most sincerely for your time and effort.
