Sack Race
Contestants ages 11 and under, as of September 24, 2021.

Each individual participant will be given a sack

Participants shall put both feet in and at the start signal begin hopping toward the finish line.

Contestants must keep both feet in the sack and at least one hand on the sack at all times.

The sack must remain as close to the waist as possible and should not fall below the knees.

The first racer to the finish line wins.

Contest will be filled in a first-come, first-serve manner. Sack Race coordinators will try to allow all those interested to participate, but reserve the right to turn away registrants if the max capacity/ time amount allotted is reached.

Contestants will be evenly distributed (as possible) into qualifying heats. The winner from each qualifying heat will go on to compete in a final race against the other heat winners. The winner of the final race will be awarded a prize in the following age categories: 5 & under, 6 yrs- 8 yrs, 9 yrs- 11 yrs.

OWN RISK: It is understood that competitors enter the race entirely at their own risk for the purpose of having a great time.

Wheelbarrow Race
Contestants will race in teams of two.  Individuals can only participate on one team.

COMPETITORS ARE USING AN ACTUAL WHEELBARROW &  MUST 12 YEARS OF AGE or OLDER as of September 24, 2021.

WHEELBARROWS will be given to each team.  Gloves and a helmet are suggested.  Contestants should wear closed toe shoes.

HEATS will be held to determine qualifiers for the final. The exact number of qualifiers will be determined on the day, depending on the number of competitors.  Contest will be filled in a first-come, first-serve manner.  Wheelbarrow Race coordinators will try to allow all those interested to participate, but reserve the right to turn away registrants if the max capacity/ time amount allotted is reached.

DESIGNATED LANES: Teams must stay inside their designated lanes while running the race including while in the change zone.  It is not safe to enter another team’s lane.  RACE COORDINATORS will shout, “Lane Violation!” Team must immediately return to their lane.

RIDER CHANGING: During the race, competitors are required to change from runner to rider at the designated area on the course. The wheelbarrow must remain in the change zone during the change, or the team will be penalized by having to change back again.

RACE COORDINATORS will shout  “Illegal change! Change again.".

RIDER CONFIGURATION: The riders may position themselves in any configuration in the wheelbarrow they desire, but if any of the Race Coordinators consider this configuration unsafe, they may be required to adjust their configuration when told  “Adjust load!".

ILLEGAL ACTS will result in immediate disqualification by any of the Race Coordinators. Illegal Acts are described as follows: Cutting The course, Deliberately forcing other competitors off the course, Deliberate Ramming of any type, Interference with other teams, Deliberately travelling in another team’s lane.

Failure to heed the instructions of the Race Coordinators at any time will result in disqualification. A disqualified competitor must immediately pull out of the race.

PRIZES FOR WINNERS of the final will be awarded in the following categories: 12 yrs - 15 yrs, 16 yrs & older.  Category will be determined by the age of the oldest team member.

Diaper Dash Race
How it works: All contestants must be between the ages of 0 and 12 months on September 24, 2021 to be eligible to win. Babies will participate in a 10 ft crawling race on a mat in the Activity Tent of Santa Clara Swiss Days. Contestants will be evenly distributed (as possible) into qualifying heats. The winner from each qualifying heat will go on to compete in a final race against the other heat winners. The winner of the final race will be awarded a prize.

1. There is no entry fee to participate.

2. Any contestant who stands and steps in a forward direction to the finish line is disqualified.

3. Props can be used at the start and/or finish line to motivate the contestants.

4.The first contestant to cross the finish line wins.

5. Contest will be filled in a first-come, first-serve manner. Diaper Dash coordinators will try to allow all those
interested to participate, but reserve the right to turn away registrants if the max capacity/ time amount allotted
is reached.

6. Children are allowed to crawl anywhere on the race mat and can cross the finish line anywhere. Parents can
call their child from the finish line, but may not touch the contestant any time after the start of the race without
disqualification. Neither adults nor their props are allowed on the racing surface – only behind the start and
finish lines. Should for whatever reason, a child be in need of a parent/guardian during the race, please be
advised that unless it is a safety or emergency issue, to avoid disqualification the parent/guardian at the start
line should carefully attend to the child from the rear so as to not distract or startle the other children

7. OWN RISK: It is understood that the guardians/parents of competitors entered in the race assume the risk of
possible harm.

Beach Ball Relay
*Teams will be required to get their beach ball across the finish line. Ball must be in constant contact with both
players' backside of body without using hands.

*No hands can be used to touch the ball, while in forward motion.

*Beach balls will be placed between players' backs. Players can hold on to each other, but no hands on the ball.

*If the team drops the ball, the players must stop and replace it before moving forward.

*If the ball moves forward when it exits the team’s control, the team must return to the place where the ball last
had contact with their bodies in order to place the ball and move forward again.

*4 players per team, with runners switching halfway through the race. If 4 person teams are not possible, 2
person heats can be allowed. 4 person teams and 2 person teams cannot compete against one another.

*The first team to cross the finish line with their ball wins.

*OWN RISK: It is understood that competitors competing in the race assume the risk of possible harm.
