The Art & Soul of Wisdom: Connecting Body, Mind & Soul through Toltec Teachings
Retreat Description: A weekend retreat exploring Toltec Teachings based on Don Miguel Ruiz's books: The Four Agreements and The Mastery of Love. Through writing, meditation, yoga, movement, and art we will explore the connection between these Toltec Teachings and modes of artistic expression, movement and connection to our bodies and nature. ~~Your life is your canvas and your body is the paintbrush~~ With this concept in mind, we will explore how we use our bodies to create and respond to life. This retreat requires showing up with an open mind and a sense of adventure and willingness to be in the wilderness. We will begin to explore outside of our comfort zones and give our minds a chance to let the heart and soul lead. To learn more about the Wisdom Collective visit our website at:
. Yoga will be lead by Leah Shirton, Founder of Happy Body Yoga
Guided Somatic Attunement and Meals will be provided by Deborah Pickett, Massage Therapist.
About Toltec Wisdom: The retreat themes and activities are based on the books: The Four Agreements and The Mastery of Love by Don Miguel Ruiz. Prior to the retreat each participant will select a copy of one book (included in registration) and a personal journal. We ask that the book be read prior to the retreat. The journal will be used to reflect on the key concepts or ideas from the book/s that had relevance, raised questions, or challenged beliefs. Your personal journal will also serve as the artist palette over the weekend. These readings and journal reflections will be the entry point for our gathering and weekend activities.
About the Retreat Location: The Beaver Brook Campsite at Maple Hill Farm, is a primitive site that does not have running water or electricity. The bunk houses are enclosed structures with wooden cot style bunks. We will supply lanterns to each participant upon arrival. There is kitchen with sink and propane stove as well as portable toilets. Cars will be parked in lot above campsite, it is about a 5-10 minute easy hike to the campground. Details for parking and trail access will be provided. We request that all participants plan to stay for the full retreat, that participants are comfortable with primitive camping and easy hikes.
