Mode for...Brass! Teaching Method - Bb & Eb Pitch
In these unprecedented times of the global pandemic that is COVID-19, never has it become more important to share resources and encourage new ways of delivering musical education to beginner brass players.
Mode for... was set-up by myself and my husband Simon Kerwin with a vision to love what we do and do what we love and to be creative and inspire and the need for this vision has never been more true than now.
Over a decade ago, Mode for... first published Mode for...Brass! This method was the book that launched our business. A tutor book designed and written by Simon and edited by myself. It has inspired student musicians across the world and is full of fun content, carefully thought out by Simon who wanted to bring inspiration and fun to the lessons of students.
It was written with passion and a desire to encourage more brass players the world over.
Written for both Bb and Eb pitch, Mode for...Brass! features 40 lessons with technical skills, melodies and musicianship exercises plus some duets and teambuilding exercises. It also comes complete with backing tracks in both pitches.
In the current climate where we are being forced to re-assess how we can continue to deliver brass music teaching online for benefit of students and our professional music teachers, Mode for...Brass! works as a great method to support these lessons with fun and creativity and the students can play along to the backing tracks at home.
I guess the thought that Simon put into the concept of this teaching method was designed to be delivered this way and, if he was still here, he would be delighted to see his music helping to inspire people around the world.
That is why I am making the teaching method and all backing tracks available to students, teachers and parents for free as of 21 March 2020.
This is just another way that I am trying to support all our brass musicians during these trying times.
All I ask is you fill in your details so we can keep you up to date with our further offers and news and when the world settles into calmer times, you continue to support my small business that is Mode for...
By supporting each other, we will get through the tough times and keep our brass band movement thriving.
