Magnetism and Electromagnetism Part 10
What is an advantage of using a magnetic relay?
The circuit looks complicated
No current is needed
Only a small current in the first circuit is needed to switch on the second circuit
How does the electric bell work?
After the switch is closed, the hammer will hit the bell just once
You have to manually hit the bell with the hammer
You have to turn on and off the switch many times
After the switch is closed, the soft iron core will be magnetised and demagnetised. The hammer will hit the bell continuosly
Circuit Breakers are designed for
opening a circuit as and when we like
opening a circuit when the current exceeds a certain value
being a backup power source
Circuit Breakers made use of
potential difference formula, V=IR
Newton's second law
magnetic effect of electric current
If a current is too high,
strong magnetic force of electromagnet separates the contact
it will generate static
