For 5C faculty who have previously received a Course Development or Redevelopment Award, funding is available to support activities that enable the class to continue to engage with topics related to environmental issues in Asia. Funds may go to support field trips, guest speakers, and other activities. Maximum amount of funding available per class is $1,500.
Application is due Nov. 3, 2017. The application is short, but broken up into different sections. It mainly asks for a description of activities and how they enhance the course as well as a budget for these activities.
We ask Continuing Class Funding recipients to participate in assessment activities and other reporting to the Henry Luce Foundation.
Applications will be evaluated based on the guiding principles of EnviroLab Asia, summarized below:• Create a space for the production of new knowledge about the interaction between nature, the built environment, and human populations in East and Southeast Asia • Utilize cross-disciplinary approaches• Encourage 5C exchanges between and across campuses, utilize the current resources at the Claremont Colleges, and/or encourage community-building between and among 5C campus communities• Increase faculty and students’ capacities to effectively influence debates on environmental issues as well as present innovative solutions to challenges resulting from environmental problems
