Field Research Associate

About the Position
Institution for Suitable Actions for Prosperity (ISAP) is looking for a Field Research Associate to gather primary data for a study administered by Michael Lamport Commons Ph.D., professor at Harvard Medical School and his research team. The study is aimed at assessing critical thinking, problem solving and perspective taking skills for non-literate adults of rural areas of Nepal. You would be expected to devote around five to six weeks for this position starting from mid to late November. During the first week, you will be trained through couple of Skype sessions each lasting 2-3 hours. You would then spend about two weeks in rural Sindhupalchowk conducting 'experiments' and collecting data with a team of 3-4 people. You would then spend 2 to 3 weeks processing the data you collect from the experiment i.e. transcribing, translating and aggregating the information.

We are looking for candidates who are fluent at spoken and written English and Nepali. You should be comfortable with travelling and living in the rural parts of the country as well as engaging with potential participants in-order-to to recruit them. You would ideally be detail oriented, versatile and self-initiating. You must have access to a laptop and internet at home as you would have the option of doing some of the data processing work from home.

Required Skills and Qualification
We are looking for candidates who are fluent at spoken and written English and Nepali.

The candidate should also be comfortable with travelling and living in minimum living standards in the rural parts of the country as well as engaging with potential participants in-order-to to recruit them.

Although we do not have a minimum degree qualification requirement, we envision that the candidate would have at least completed their high school education (A-levels, +2, etc). We believe our most suited candidate would either be some one taking a year-off to apply to university or someone studying bachelor's degree or someone who has just graduated from a bachelor's degree. We are more concerned about your skills and ability than your educational achievements.

The candidate would ideally be detail oriented, versatile and self-initiating.

The candidate would ideally have access to a laptop and internet at home.
