Sacred Grounds Detroit GSI Program - Application Interest FromĀ 
Apply and join the 2025 National Wildlife Federation Sacred Grounds DetroitĀ - Healing over HabitatĀ Program.Ā Our Sacred Grounds Detroit program team - National Wildlife Federation, Friends of the Rouge, Sierra Club of Michigan ChapterĀ are activelyĀ recruiting houses of worship and community spaces located in Detroit, Highland Park or Hamtramck (MI) to join the Sacred Grounds Detroit GSI Program. This program is aĀ community driven habitat and education initiative launched in 2018 to support Detroit community spaces to create native plant, Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI) gardens (e.g. rain gardens) that restore local wildlife habitats, reduce flooding, lower drainage fees and increase access to nature in Detroit's neighborhoods.Ā 

As a program participant you will receive direct funding, technical support, design guidance and peer-learning opportunities to bring a native plant GSI project to life on your property - all while engaging your community in climate justice, community resilience and place based stewardship.Ā

This program is supported by funding from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation and through deep partnerships with Friends of the Rouge, Sierra Club of Michigan Chapter, Keep Growing Detroit and others who bring decades of expertise and leadership in water justice, native plant gardening and community organizing.Ā 

In addition to the Sacred Grounds Detroit program, you will be joining a regional Sacred Grounds Network of over 120 Sacred Ground sites and dozens of regional partners across the Great Lakes in Cleveland (OH), Toledo (OH), and Grand Rapids (MI) engaging in this work.Ā
