Youth Mental Health First Aid
San Mateo County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS) is sponsoring Youth Mental Health First Aid courses throughout San Mateo County. In a concerted effort to create safer schools and communities, BHRS and the San Mateo County Office of Education are working in partnership to deliver the Youth Mental Health First Aid curriculum to all interested schools and school districts.

As many as 1 in 5 youth in the United States suffer from a mental health disorder or challenge.  A young person you know could be experiencing a mental illness or crisis.  YOU can help them!  Become a certified Youth Mental Health First Aider by completing this 8-hour course.

Participants will learn the potential risk factors related to the development of mental illness, how to recognize symptoms of common mental health risks among young people, and a step-by step plan to help a young person who may be experiencing a mental health crisis.

Dates: Thursday, May 24th AND Thursday, May 31 (2 part training)

Times: 8:00 am - 12:30 pm

Audience: Open to any and all school staff including Classroom Teachers, Site Administrators, School Nurses, Health Aides, Librarians, Special Education Administrators and Teachers, School Safety Advocates, School Resources Officers, Wellness Coordinators, and other supportive adults within the school community.
