Scientist Meeting with Dr. Katharine Hayhoe
This is an opportunity for scientists from Anchorage and surrounding areas to meet in a smaller group setting with Dr. Hayhoe. Participants will hear advice about communicating climate change based on Katharine's extensive experience.

Dr. Katharine Hayhoe is an atmospheric scientist whose research focuses on developing and applying high-resolution climate projections to understand what climate change means for people and the natural environment. She is a professor at Texas Tech University and directs its Climate Science Center. In addition to researching climate science, Katharine is also a remarkable communicator, talking about climate change in an accessible way with a wide variety of audiences. She is especially successful at speaking with people of faith and conservatives, given her background as an evangelical Christian. Katharine has served as a lead author for the Second, Third, and Fourth U.S. National Climate Assessments. She has also received the National Center for Science Education’s Friend of the Planet award, the American Geophysical Union’s Climate Communication Prize, the Sierra Club’s Distinguished Service award, and the Stephen H Schneider Climate Communication Award. Dr. Hayhoe has been recognized as one of Fortune Magazine's 50 World's Greatest Leaders and Time Magazine's Top 100 Most Influential People. She currently hosts the PBS digital series, Global Weirding, and is often in the media.
